.: Hot Tub Filter Information

For those that have their own hot tub in their backyard, they will tell you that it is a real treat and an incredible luxury to be able to hop into at the end of the day and let the swirling water melt away all of the stresses of the day. Having the proper hot tub filter that is cleaned regularly will help you to enjoy those soothing waters each and every day.

What Is A Hot Tub Filter Used For?

Like a water filter in your home, a hot tub filter filters out any debris that falls into or accumulates in your tub. The debris could be anything including hair, leaves that fall off the trees, dirt that gets tracked in when you get into the tub, crumbs from a snack that you might be eating in the tub and all kinds of little particles that are floating through the air and make their way into the tub, too.

The filter helps to keep the water in your tub clean, clear and welcoming to get into. Each hot tub has a certain filter that will work with that tub. The filters come in many sizes and shapes, but there is only one that will fit your particular tub.

To find out what type you have or need to buy there are a couple of ways to find out which one you need. The first is look in the owners manual to find the filter listed for your tub. You can ask your hot tub dealer which one you need by supplying him the make and model of your tub. Or, you can take out the old one and measure the dimensions of it.

Each filter should be replaced about once a year. No only that, you need to clean them on a regular basis. Once every two to three weeks is a good time to clean the filter. It only takes a few minutes and makes a big difference in keeping your hot tub inviting.

The way to clean most filters is to take the filter out and spray it with a high pressure hose attachment on your garden hose or with a small power washer. You want to get into and between each of the fins on the filter to clean out all of the dirt and debris that has accumulated. If you do this regularly, it will make the filter last longer, work more efficiently and help to keep the water looking great.

Before you take out the filter, turn off the power to the tub at the breaker panel. You need to do this to prevent the tub from circulating water through the system without a filter in place.

New filters can cost anywhere from $10 to $100 or more. It depends on the filter model that your tub uses. There are many places that you can buy a new hot tub filter including local retailers and a number of places online. Do a little shopping around as the price can very greatly. Just make sure that the one you purchase is the right one for your tub. Infinity spa replacement filters normally cost between $40 and $60.
